Alex Stewart

Alex was a Nelson Mandela Scholar at Cambridge University, graduating in 1999 with commendation. He is a registered professional architect in South Africa and the United Kingdom and has lectured at the University Of Cape Town Faculty Of Architecture and represented South Africa at the Milan Trienalle.
Alex has 18 years’ experience in commercial, infrastructural and residential architecture and trained under the directorship of Fred Pilbrow (Pilbrow & Partners) and John Bushell (KPF) at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates in London, where  he worked primarily on large scale commercial projects such as The Heron Tower in central London, education projects such as the Rothermere Institute for American Studies at Oxford University and the Student’s Services Centre at the London School of Economics.

As principal architect at Alex Stewart and Partners, Alex leads the design and co- ordination of the office’s projects which range from residential projects, to complex prototype installations such as the BAT Smoking Lounge at the Cape Town International Airport, to infrastructural projects such as the Lower Thukela Water Treatment Works Administration and ancillary buildings with Aurecon.

Bachelor of Architectural Studies Degree with distinction in Design and History and Theory of Architecture.
